For many people, personalising a funeral is an essential aspect of the funeral planning process. Creating and tailoring an experience that feels unique to your loved one can be an extremely cathartic and rewarding experience. Are you wanting something a little different to the traditional route? Perhaps a 30/45-minute time slot at the local crematorium does not suit your needs or you would simply like something a little more modern? If so, there are numerous local venues that now offer venue hire, which can also include catering and facilities for a celebration of life reception after any formalities, if desired.

These services can incorporate a more relaxed feel and it can feel easier to involve children at these beautiful settings. We have illustrated an example below at The Crown Lodge in Wye, Ashford; however, we are happy help you plan a bespoke funeral at your chosen venue.

Our professional and caring attention throughout the arrangements and after the day of the funeral.

An arrangement meeting, or meetings (dependent on your wishes) at either you home or our office

Completing all of the necessary administration/paperwork to plan the funeral

Liaising with doctors, hospitals, newspapers, florists, ministers and other necessary authorities

Advice on the certification of death and related documentation

Collection of your loved one who has passed away and transportation, within 15 mile radius, to our chapel of rest, at no additional cost within office hours

Care of your loved one prior to the burial or cremation – here in our own private mortuary and chapel

Finding a suitable celebrant or minister and liaising with them regarding the service contents – if desired (families may request to lead their own service)

Chapel visits to see your loved one

Providing the option of the creation of a tribute page which includes a donations fund to a chosen charity, and we will also handle and administer charity payments made to us directly

Provision of 4 bearers and the funeral director on the day of the funeral

Collection of your loved one’s ashes after the funeral, if required

Our Stour or Chilham (oak or elm effect) coffin

The celebrant or minister fee paid on your behalf

Doctor’s fees

Crematorium fees paid in full (this is for a direct cremation, which will be an unattended event either before or after the main ‘celebration of life’ at Crown Lodge)

Venue hire fee at The Crown Lodge for up to 4 hours (illustration as each event is bespoke and therefore priced on application) £500 (does not include catering)

A 3ft double ended floral tribute for the coffin

30 x order of service booklets 4-page with colour on the outside and black and white inside pages

You can add as much or as little as you want to to our services, we pride ourselves on our ability to be flexible for our families. We are able to be lower cost compared to other funeral directors due to having lower overheads than the corporate firms focussing on high levels of care and not profit margins. We charge for our professionalism, experience and for our time, allowing you support at every stage of the process, we do not put marks ups on products such as order of service and floristry. We are completely transparent and proud of this, giving us confidence, when we meet our families, that we are doing our absolute best to support the community, which we live in.
