Direct/Pure service

A direct funeral, also known as a ‘direct cremation’ or ‘pure cremation’ describes a funeral with no service beforehand and one that preserves only the essential features of the funeral. Because of this structure, it is designed for those who either intend to keep costs low, or prefer the simplest kind of funeral there is for personal, cultural or spiritual reasons. Memorial services can, however, be arranged at an alternative time if desired (ashes can be present).

Our fee for this ‘pure-type’ cremation is highly competitive with regards to other companies, such as ‘Pure Cremation’ who charge add-ons for ashes delivery at your chosen time and collection of your loved one from a hospice, home or care home…meaning their overall cost is actually higher. As well as offering highly competitive and fair pricing, we also maintain our personalised service.

The Direct Pathway is a direct funeral service package; an all inclusive option with the exception of the possible doctors’ fees, if required, at £82. The total cost is £1270.00 at Charing Crematorium and includes the following:

Collection of the deceased in an appropriate vehicle with required staff within office hours – this can be from a hospital, a care home, a hospice, a private home etc…we do not charge extra for different establishments!

Care of the deceased – in our private mortuary with us (this aspect of our service means a great deal to us and it is a comfort to the families we serve, who do not wish their loved one to be taken to a ‘hub’ hundreds of miles from their home)

Funeral arrangements in our office or at your home (equally, we can complete these over the phone but we like to offer this personalised option free of charge)

Administration and paperwork

Provision of an appropriate funeral vehicle and staff on the day of the cremation (please enquire with us regarding the provision of our Binz Mercedes Hearse if desired)

Provision of a simple wood effect coffin

Remember the disbursements are covered in the cost of this option (with exception of the doctors’ fees)

Why choose us over cheaper (or so it seems) direct/pure cremation companies?

- You can choose the date of delivery or collection of ashes without any additional cost
- The other companies are not all as cheap as they like to appear – look out for their hidden add-ons eg. an extra £250 to collect your loved one from a care home or hospice and obscenely high fees for removing a pace maker (we don’t charge anything – it is considered part of our care)
- You are supporting a local independent family-owned business and receive a personal service
- You can choose to select clothing or a gown for your loved one and visit in our chapel of rest
- You can choose the date or location of the cremation
- We even like to gift our families a scatter tube – you can choose from a large selection of designs
